Job description

As a Business Development Manager at Customs Support Group, your primary objective is to drive revenue growth by acquiring new customers and expanding relationships with existing ones. You will play a key role in extending the reach of our service portfolio across the UK market, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering tailored customs solutions to meet client needs.

This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to sales, including researching new sectors, solution selling, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers. You will be responsible for identifying leads, pitching our services, and contributing to the expansion of our customer base across various industries.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

v  Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline in Salesforce, ensuring all activities and client interactions are accurately recorded and aligned with company guidelines.

v  Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across focus industries, leveraging market insights and a value-based approach.

v  Develop and nurture relationships with new and existing clients and suppliers, acting as a trusted advisor to understand their needs and propose tailored customs solutions.

v  Represent Customs Support Group at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote our services and expand market presence.

v  Collaborate with internal teams and overseas offices to generate and share sales leads, fostering strong relationships across the wider network.

v  Present pipeline progress and sales activities to management using Salesforce dashboards and reporting tools.

v  Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments to identify new sectors and drive strategic growth.

v  Use solid technical and commercial knowledge to position CSG’s services effectively across various industries.

WHAT TO EXPECT

v  This is a fully remote role, with flexibility to work from home while maintaining regular contact with clients and internal teams.

v  Travel across the UK will be required to meet clients, attend events, and support business development activities. Occasional travel within the EU may also be necessary.

v  Valid driving licence (travel will be required).

v  The working environment can be fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring resilience and adaptability.

Job requirements

v  Valid driving licence (travel will be required).

v  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

v  Minimum of 3 years experience in business development, account management, major account management, or similar commercial roles.

v  Minimum of 3 years experience in account management is essential.

v  Proven track record in sales, with a strong commercial mindset and history of identifying and converting new business opportunities.

v  A commercial mindset with a history of new business development, always pinpointing new opportunities for growth and succeeding.

v  Self-confident, purposeful with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

v  Desirable, previous experience in logistics an advantage. Previous experience in Major Account and Key Account Management is desirable.

v Knowledge of the UK customs brokerage and duty management services market desirable.

v  Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.

v  Ability to identify market leads and convert them into business opportunities.

v  Effective communication and people skills.

v  Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.

v  Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.

v  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

v  Initiative-taking and confident
