We are looking for a skilled Customs & Compliance Manager to support our International Customs & Compliance Director in overseeing and managing customs and corporate compliance across 14 European countries.

In this role, you will play a key part in identifying and mitigating customs and excise compliance risks while driving internal audit programs and strategic initiatives. You will work closely with various departments, ensuring that our policies, procedures, and risk frameworks remain aligned with evolving European customs regulations.

Purpose of the Role:

  • This position exists to support the International Customs & Compliance Director with managing the compliance (customs and corporate) of the different CSG countries in Europe.

  • This function is able to centrally manage and keep control of the different customs (and excise) compliance risks coming out of CSG’s European operations in 14 countries.

  • This role requires a strong understanding of the relevant customs regulations as well as a good practical understanding of the operations.

  • It requires monitoring changes of European customs law and regulations in order to proactively address anticipated issues based on new laws and bring forward solutions/ideas to operations to approach such issues.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Engages and drives customs and compliance projects aimed at further developing the internal compliance program of the group;

  • Owns and drives the customs compliance internal audit program to results;

  • Contributes to strategic projects which define how the company can position itself further into the market;

  • Cooperates with the legal department to deal with queries regarding customs agreements, power of attorney’s and general terms and conditions;

  • Shares (internal) knowledge updates and sessions to support the business;

  • Actively supports the organization with news updates impacting the business. This involves working with the marketing and the commercial department;

  • Supports the countries and the local compliance organizations with their internal control programs (including controls on sanctions, claims, etc);

  • Develops and improves policies, procedures and guidelines to structurally address certain areas of risks and ensure those risks are mitigated;

  • Assists the entities with license and AEO audits conducted by authorities and provides recommendations to country management;

  • Maintains a strong and structural reporting as part of the risk reporting framework including but not limited to managing the different claims and audit trackers;

  • Closely collaborates with local AEO owners to ensure procedures are kept up to date and properly followed;

  • Provides periodical reporting to group’s International Customs & Compliance Director;

  • Maintains an excellent relationship with the country managers and different team leaders in order to stay well informed on the various operations.

Job requirements

Skills & Experience:

  • 6+ years of relevant and notable work experience as customs specialist and/or customs agent;

  • 3+ years in executing customs consultancy & compliance services, such as (but not limited to) internal auditing, AEO, trade compliance advise trajectory;

  • Academic combined with a strong practical approach;

  • International experience;

  • Legal background is a plus;

  • Experience with setting up policies and procedures;

  • Good operational knowledge in customs clearance activities;

  • Fluent English speaker and writer.

  • Comfortable with MS Office;

  • Proactive and dynamic;

  • Team player.
