Job description

As a Customs Clearance Coordinator, you will oversee the smooth processing of Import/Export Customs Declarations for given customers.

A pivotal role that requires attention to detail and being able to work to a process while also giving consideration to how those processes can be improved. Experience in Excel is an advantage but ultimately the ability to expand on basic knowledge and learn new systems is more important. The role requires a strong team ethic but also the ability to work proactively on your own.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete Import and export Customs declarations, following standing or customers’ instructions

• Management of multiple mailboxes, documents, and folders for SCDP or Control tower customers

• Issuing Clearance instructions to express agents

• Customer focused and a natural communicator, able to build excellent relationships internally and externally

• Managing workload, completing all declarations, including IPAFFS in a timely manner to meet customer KPI’s and prioritize urgent requests.

• Maintain and improve knowledge of Customs Processes and Procedures particularly around CPC’s, the HMRC Tariff and preferences.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Customs entries to be submitted in accordance with clients IOP, in line with current HMRC legislation, using ASM Sequoia

• Dealing with various modes of transport – Road, Sea and Air

• Dealing with a variety of commodities

• Understanding different Customs processes such as Homeuse, IP, bonded entries, returned goods

• Dealing with all queries quickly and efficiently

• Verifying documents received for Customs purposes are compliant and correct

• Manage own/group email inbox efficiently

• Managing documents and folders for SCDP Customers

• Communicating with customers directly via email and telephone

• Liaising with Customs and port authorities

• Understanding incoterms

WHAT TO EXPECT

• The work is mainly office based

• The dress code is smart / casual whilst is acceptable in the office

• The working environment can at times be stressful, as much of the work is aimed at meeting tight delivery deadlines, although you will be supported by the team and management.

• Some weekend may be required
